An aside from coding…
I obviously do a lot of work on the computer, for many hours every day I find myself either coding PHP, developing databases or using the internet. When I'm not using the computer however I love to be out in the garden on a regular basis, tending to plants and flowers.
This got me thinking the other day, why do people spend so much on valentine's gifts such as flowers when they could grow the flowers at home, given a bit of foresight?
I guess the answer is that all in all store bought flowers are of a much higher quality than the average guy growing them in his garden can muster. Not only that but I also suppose that the presentation services actual florists can offer are superior to what you might achieve off your own back.
This year I might offer someone flowers from my garden, but then again I'll probably do the right thing and buy some decent ones from a florist.
